E. 7th St. and Heights Blvd. Houston, TX, 77008
Great place for playin' around and working on technique. There are a lot of transitions for underbars, tic-tacs, tac-to-cat, etc.
Not too many people are there after dark and you may have to sneak in. Also, watch out for the guy who locks the park up. He usually comes around 9:30-10pm in his "Curves" for Women pickup...scary!
The Fuzz - 2/5 | The "Curves" guy has threatened to call the police but we haven't encountered them yet. Technically, it is trespassing, so be careful.
Refreshment - 1/5 | There is only water fountains in the park. Bringing your own water would be better since you can chew the sediment in the park's water.
Beginner Obstacles - 5/5 | All kinds of obstacles for learning how to vault, precision jump, and cat-grab. Low and high obstacles, good grip.
Advanced Obstacles - 4/5 | There are plenty of lines to run once you get to the park. It may take a while to see them, but true traceurs should be able to fine them.
Bad People - 5/5 | Though there are occasional vagrants, the Heights is pretty well kept in this area.
Overall - 3/5 | If you like obstacles close together and one right after the other, this is a great place. Though not technically urban, it is nonetheless a great place to get the basics down and work on confidence. Also, it can help you develop the vision to see lines to take (e.g., the fastest line, the most difficult line, etc.).
I don't have any pictures, but I will post them as soon as I do.
