The other day me and my team ( Team Odyssey ) were out doing some late training when the cops showed up. They chased us for an hour, but thats not the point. The point is that one of my team members left the rest of the team and then called a get away car. When we saw this we called him and the ride over to get us, but instead he just drives off leaving us to rot. Now I'm pretty sure that team members are not suposed to leave the rest of the team behind like that.

What were you doing to get chased off the cops? Training should never involve breaking the law, and trespass while refining one's art is not Parkour. When asked to leave, it's best simply to do so. There are plenty of places to train without breaking the law. In my experience, policemen and security (and people in general) are understanding and civil if you are respectful toward them.

Good, I wish you were all caught and arrested.
Quit giving them a reason to hate us. If I ever find out you did this again, I will tell the cops where to find you.
That or I'll just kill your family.
Don't be a douche.

Mike's acerbic diatribe aside, he brings up a good point. The more you represent Parkour as an unlawful activity practiced by hooligans who desire (as your team member Niko puts it) "to break all the rules without getting caught", the more difficult you make it for not just yourself, but for all the Parkour community. Parkour is a discipline, an art, and it is hard enough to get mainstream society to recognize it as something akin to a martial art. This is why many of us go out of our way to take care of our environment, to pick up trash where we train, to explain what we do to passers-by and authorities. After all, David Belle himself, as well as other founders of the discipline, says "be strong to be useful".

Tisk tisk. Come on Team Od. You guys should know better, especially considering your situation in Safford with already limited training locations due to the overall public response to PK in your area. Doing that did nothing but further damage that relationship.
Team Moz just left EP not two days ago after a weekend of training and other shennanigans and they were talking about several projects they are working on to help change that biased pre conceived opinion in Safford and hopefully all around the nation. As a fellow traceur, you and your team mates have a responsibility to act in a mature and respectful manner so as to not ruin it for everyone else in your town, ESPECIALLY considering that they have been doing this longer than you. Because of your actions, every time those cops (and anyone else they talked to about it) see anyone training they are automatically going to assume the worst and talking to them and explaining your intentions (training) is going to be much more difficult.

Yeah dude just don't run. Most of time when they want come up to you, all they want to do is ask you to leave. And if you get the chance, maybe you could explain to them what your doing, they might be nicer.

I truly apologize, sorry Odessey, but I felt I did this for you really to learn. I suggested that you purpose this question on the boards and you can obviously see the overwhelming response of not even the answer of the question but the actions that you had taken.

Whether or not a team member should leave behind the rest of the team. One of their members called someone to pick him up in a car and left the others.

What could you have been doing that made them chase you... They usually only chase ARMED ROBBERS for about 30 mins before they give up and fall back on forensics. Wow. Parkour IS NOT A CRIME! so don't make it one.

Yeah normally when you train and the cops show up, you stop what you are doing and let the cop come up to and you explain to them what you are doing. If you run away from the cops it looks like you are doing something bad whether you were or not. My best advice next this happens just explain to them what you are doing, the worst they can do is ask you to leave.
